For many years the knowledge of Kinesiology Taping has been spreading around the world, slowly in some countries and liike wild fire in others.
The technique was developed by Dr Kenzo Kase, a Japanese Chiropractor, who created the taping method, and called it Kinesio Taping.
The tape was manufactured by the huge Japanese multinational Nitto Denko, one of the world's leading players in adhesive technologies.
The collaboration was a happy one for many years; Kinesio Tape and the Kinesio Taping method gaining widespread use and endorsements from leading physiotherapists, Doctors, athletes and patients.
The technology involved in creating the tape is complex, with the fabric stretch and thickness having been designed to replicate the characteristics of the skin. The waveform adhesive pattern was specifically designed for the techniques involved in Kinesio Taping.
The success of the tape has spawned some very poor quality copies, and in January 2006 Kinesio Japan Ltd took the remarkable step of moving production of Kinesio Tape away from Nitto Denko.
Most distributors, scientists and practitioners in Europe have rebelled against this decision and now import the original Japanese Nitto Denko Kinesiology Tape.
A new organisation called K-Active Europe has been created to develop a professional education structure, and to develop and enrich the knowledge of Kinesiology Taping throughout Europe
Vivomed has developed a website specifically to deal with sales of K-Active Kinesiology Tape and training courses in the taping method. You'll find lots of information on Kinesiology Taping and Taping Courses by visiting: www.kinesiologytaping.co.uk |
